An effort to recall David Pasbrig and Kathleen Sertich from their positions on the city council of Mayville, Wisconsin was launched in August 2013.[1] The recall did not go to a vote.
Background
The recall effort was led by former Alderman Mitchell McKinnon and Thomas Stollenwek. They were upset over a meeting that Pasbrig and Sertich had with Mayor Jerry Moede, city treasurer Kathie Wild, and Dodge County Sheriff Pat Ninmann regarding the potential dissolution of the city's police department. Recall supporters said losing the police department would adversely affect community safety, while those on the opposing side said it would help improve the city's budgetary situation. McKinnon and Stollenwek alleged the meeting with the county sheriff violated open meetings laws for justification of the recall effort. A separate ethics complaint regarding the meeting was also filed by The Dodge County Pioneer.[1][2]

Statements of intent to recall were filed with Mayville City Clerk Deanna Boldrey on August 19, 2013. Recall supporters were required to gather 66 signatures against Pasbrig and 109 signatures against Sertich to trigger a recall election.[1]
