David Pekoske was the acting secretary of homeland security in the Biden administration. He assumed office on January 20, 2021.[1] He left office on February 2, 2021, after Alejandro Mayorkas was confirmed to the position.
Biography
Pekoske earned a B.S. from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, MPA from Columbia University, and MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He served in the Coast Guard for more than three decades, including as the as 26th vice commandant of the service branch. He also worked as a commissioner on the Cyberspace Solarium Commission.[2]
He became the administrator of the Transportation Security Administration in August 2017 for a five-year term.[2]
