David Puryear (Republican Party) was a judge for Place 5 of the Texas Third District Court of Appeals. He left office on December 31, 2018.

Puryear (Republican Party) ran for re-election for the Place 5 judge of the Texas Third District Court of Appeals. He lost in the general election on November 6, 2018.

Education

Justice Puryear received his B.S.E. degree from Southwestern University in 1978 and his J.D. degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1983.[1]

Career

Puryear began his legal career in 1983 as a criminal prosecutor in Travis County. He also served as a Travis County justice of the peace in 1988. In 1991, he became a judge on the Travis County Court at Law No. 6. He worked in this capacity through 1998. He then worked as a deputy director in the Special Crimes Division of the Office of the Attorney General until his election to the Court of Appeals in 2000.[1]
