Elections
2014

Campaign themes
2014
In a survey conducted by the school district, Rein stated that the following should be the district's top priorities in 2014:
| “ | NECSD needs to focus it’s attention on providing more instructional dollars and less administrative dollars while reining in fiscal control and insuring longevity in our programs, teachers and staff.[7] | ” |

In an interview with the Times Herald Record, Rein rejected arguments made by Runston Lewis and Sheila Murphy, who claimed that the district should prioritize hiring more minority teachers. In response, Rein stated, "I think all children can succeed as long as their parents are involved and they are energized by quality teachers. I find it offensive to suggest that black teachers and black board members are the answer to Newburgh's problems."[8]
