David Richardson (Virginia)
David Richardson is the Virginia Treasurer. Richardson assumed office on June 2, 2022. Richardson's current term ends on January 17, 2026.
He was appointed to Virginia Treasurer on June 2, 2022 by Gov. Glenn Youngkin to replace Manju Ganeriwala.
Richardson was an attorney in a private law firm for 44 years before becoming state treasurer.[1][2]
Biography
David Richardson is an attorney and has spent more than 40 years working in public finance. Prior to his appointment as state treasurer, he retired after 44 years with the Richmond, Virginia, office of the McGuireWoods firm. His legal expertise is in bond financing for governments, educational institutions, hospitals and other nonprofits.[3][4]
Richardson was born March 1, 1954, in Washington, D.C. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in 1975, and from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1978. He passed his bar exam in 1978 and was admitted to practice law.[5][6]
