Campaign website

Sandbeck's campaign website stated the following:

ABORTIONS

Abortion and contraception are essential to the health of women. It is vital for women in Minnesota to have access to health care that is safe and reliable.

CRIME, PUBLIC SAFETY, & POLICE

As Minnesota saw a 21% rise in violent crime in 2021, it's time for a new strategy to combat crime. Statistics show that funding law enforcement does not decrease crime, but increases it. It is not my belief that defunding the police would also solve the problem. Trust must be built between the police and community to resolve this issue. A supporter of our judiciary should not think that you deserve a maximum sentence for a first offense, but they should also understand that multiple offenses should not be treated the same as a first offense

EDUCATION

I believe in rebuilding the ladder of success through education. High school students should have the option to earn skilled certificates with their high school diploma as part of their high school curriculum. As a result of a financial benefit, students could no longer claim that they wouldn't use anything they learned in class in the real world

JOBS

We need to ensure that workers receive livable compensations and a safe working environment as we rebuild and bring back jobs in Minnesota.By graduating every year with certified labor skills, we could grow the job market.[1]

Expand all | Collapse all

My top three priorities are advocating for single payer health care, public financing of elections, challenging the military industrial complex.
Congress has abdicated too much of it's authority to the executive branch. This imbalance must be corrected. Congress has not been defending our constitutional rights, the implied right to privacy. Our fourth amendment rights have been repeatedly violated after the attacks on September 11th. Our foreign policy has been a disaster creating mass migration and instability in the world.
Bernie Sanders inspired me and gives me hope for our future. I would not likely be running to if he didn't first demonstrate there were so many progressives ready to challenge the status quo. He demonstrated the necessity of competitive primaries.
A book that describes my political philosophy? I love the novel Jaws, it was the first novel I read at age 11. My aunt bought me the book. Climate change
Characteristics that are important are politicians who practice what they preach. Leaders act and live their truth. So if you say you support Unions, do you shop union? Is there consistency in their words and actions? Also openness to learn new facts is critical.
Qualities I have that make me right for this office? I am a working class person. Born to a hair dresser and car wash attendant. I truly understand the struggle of working people! I want to fight for the working class, the working poor, the weakest among us with my all my heart, all my soul and all my mind. I can lead a life of service, and not be corrupted by easy money. I will never take money from the military industrial complex, insurance, and financial industry or anything evil. I will stand with and for the people in the 4th district always. I will put people over party. I will put country over party. I will fight corruption.
The core responsibilities of the office is to fiercely represent the people in the district. Defend the constitution. Improve peoples lives! Our republic has been transformed into an oligarchy that isn't representative of the people. I need to be a voice and a force of change!
I hope to leave a legacy of progressive policy that saves our republic from a ruling class of despicable people that don't give a darn about you!
My earliest memory is my mother taking me to Sears as a very young boy, for a photo set. I also recall my first day of preschool at Saint Matthews where I spent most of my early education before high school on the West Side of Saint Paul.
My first real job was working for Saint Paul parks and recreation as a ski instructor and lifeguard from 2001-2008.
My most awkward date? I actually have not been on many! My first date was in college with a perfect nerdy guy, I just instantly felt a strong attraction for. I have allergies and I sneezed, it was juicy, it embarrassed me. Sadly, I didn't make the cut. I spent years loosing weight and when I reconnected with him, he was set to get married. I wish him all the joy, that only love can bring.
My favorite holiday was Christmas, but it's not the same now that the extended family does not get together at grandma's house like we used to. So now it's Thanksgiving because I love turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, and scratch made ravioli at our gatherings. The family attendance is better than Christmas these days.
My favorite book is Jaws, it's the first novel I read. It got me interested in politics! The politics of the Mayor was a larger aspect in the book. The class struggle with the Chief, his wife, Hooper and everything was perfect! It is a perfect story! I read more Peter Benchley but Jaws is my favorite. Sorry to Stephen King, my favorite author, that my favorite book isn't one of his.
If I could be a fictional character? When I picked my Halloween costume, I was Dirty Harry, Chief Brody, a wizard. Being a wizard was my favorite costume. As an adult I want to be the Goblin King from Labyrinth. But who could ever pull that off better than David Bowie?
I love my little town home. I don't have to shovel, I have a garage, and it's all mine. I live a simple life, and it pleases me.
I am a huge Dwight Yoakam fan. I was listening to a mix CD recently I made 16 years ago of his music, music which I paid for, but burned onto a cd. "Ain't that lonely yet" and "She wore red dresses" have been on mental repeat.
All my life I struggled with my weight. I dropped 160lbs and have kept it off, hopefully for good this time. I struggled with being gay, I was closeted through high school. I still struggle with accepting myself.
We need to end partisan districting.
Congress is unique because it's supposed to be the most powerful branch of government. Some people say the three branches are coequal but they are not! The Congress makes the laws, the congress controls the money and decides when we commit to war! At least that is what the constitution intended!
Yes, previous government and political experience is helpful. Also someone can be there too long, loose touch and become less effective as a result.
Over the next decade, climate change is going to be the cause of or escalation factor of multiple crisis. Followed by the fact that the United States isn't the only superpower in the world. How will we function and peacefully coexist with another major superpower? A hint I will give you, is we need to start respecting international laws.
Well of course I want to be on the appropriations committee, followed by energy and commerce, then armed services.
Yes two years keeps part of the legislative body more attentive to the people.
I support term limits, especially since parties have an anticompetitive culture it would help keep leadership fresh.
I want to be like Bernie Sanders who has consistently been on the right side of history.
So far running for congress I have spoken with hundreds of people. it is overwhelming how many struggles people share. I actually broke down and cried after hearing from someone who lost a daughter who was delayed access to care because her daughter was confused about insurance coverage from being between jobs and in the confusion was discharged instead of treated. Her daughter died as a result.
