Biography
Sullivan-Nightengale grew up on the west side of St. Paul.[1] He earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1998, and he went on to receive a master's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2009.[2] His professional experience includes the following:
- 2014-Present: System safety engineer, Detector Electronics Corporation
- 2012-2014: System safety engineer, Cobham Mission Systems
- 2011-2012: Systems engineer, Composite Engineering, Inc.
- 2010-2011: Safety engineer, Office of the Secretary of Defense
- 2006-2010: Lead system safety engineer, Lockheed Martin
- 2003-2005: Reliability engineer, Honeywell
- 2001-2003: Software safety engineer, Science and Engineering Associates, Inc.
- 1991-1993: Student library assistant, Dakota County[2]
Sullivan-Nightengale was also a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1998 to 1999. He served in the Army Reserve from 1991 to 1993.[2]

The city of St. Paul, Minnesota, held elections for city council on November 3, 2015. Because the city uses instant-runoff voting, there was no primary election. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was August 11, 2015.[4][5] In the Ward 5 race, incumbent Amy Brendmoen defeated David J. Glass and David Sullivan-Nightengale in the general election.[6]
