Campaign themes

2016

Tagart's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]

  • "Expanded Medicaid covering 100,000 Nebraskans using $1billion of federal funds creating 10,000 jobs and protecting hospitals."
  • "Tax reform relying primarily on a simplified graduated income tax and eventually abolishing sales taxes and property taxes."
  • "Judicial Reform leading to $100,000,000 of annual tax savings to Nebraskans focusing on leniency, common sense sentencing, victim restitution, and community service. For example, say someone assaulted you. The judge says you can send them to prison for one year costing taxpayers $40,000, or you can have them pay you $10,000 and do community service and/or counseling. Which would you choose?"
