- America's Veterans: David is committed to holding the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in Washington DC accountable. Further, he is focused on working towards real solutions to ensure Michigan’s and our nation’s veterans receive the quality care they deserve and need in a timely manner. As a 27 year Air Force veteran, David will make it a priority to fight for the veterans who are struggling and help them overcome the unnecessary bureaucratic barriers they face to receive the quality care our country owes them.
- The U.S. Economy: The economy remains stifled by regulatory overreach and disjointed tax codes which discourage growth, job creation, production and investment. Today, the labor participation rate is only 62.7%, the lowest in almost 40 years. Over 17 million Americans are unemployed, underemployed, or have given up looking for work. The result is a middle class squeezed by everyday expenses, higher healthcare costs and limited opportunity.
- National Security: David believes we need a coherent foreign policy that opens the door to build reliable alliances with Nations who, until recently, were steadfast allies. Currently, the Obama Administration has no strategy and offers no hope of leadership for governments around the world actively fighting extremists and tyrants. Our allies need to know that we are dependable and our foes need to fear us. In fact, the world is a better, safer place, when America stand strong and leads from the front.
- Healthcare: The Obamacare scheme is not working. Families all over the 10th district have been sharing their stories with about how their premiums have increased while their coverage has decreased. Seniors and veterans are not being provided the care they need, while younger people are being punished by pushing them into a system that forces them to pay higher rates.
- Education: David believes that the education of our children should be subject to parents, local communities, and individual states, not unelected bureaucrats in Washington D.C. The public school system for millions of American children is a tragedy. Many underprivileged and working class families here in Michigan often have no choice in what schools their children can attend. As your Representative in Washington, David will encourage school choice and greater charter school options. Parents should be the ultimate decision makers on where their children go to school.
