The moment that I heard Barbara Jordan speak, I was memorized. She was so eloquent! She is the person that got me into politics. I remember watching and listening to her speak at the Democratic Convention and how they wanted her to be on the ticket as the Vice President which she turned down. I made it a point to tune in every time she was on TV.
The same with Nichelle Nichols. Here was a beautiful intelligent Black woman, being treated as an equal and not an object. Her character let us little girls know that we can be smart and beautiful, as well as be respected.

So many parents complain about how their child's teacher has too many students in their class. They always praise the teacher for how well they are doing but why doesn't the system hire more teachers.
The young teacher in tears because she has to leave her inner city school due to the rise in her rent. She loves her students but can no longer afford to live any where close to her school.
This older gentleman who isn't taking the medicines that he needs because they cost too much and wouldn't be able to pay his rent.
