Two Dayton School District Levy Replacement measures were on the February 14, 2012 ballot in the Dayton school district area which is in Columbia County.

Both measures were approved

The first measure sought to replace the current school levy which is set to expire with one set at a rate of $2.33 for a period of four years in order to further pay for general fund maintenance and operational costs in the district.

The question on the ballot:

Proposition 1: The Board of Directors of Dayton School District No. 2 adopted Resolution No. 2011-4, concerning a proposition to finance maintenance and operation expenses. This proposition would authorize the District to meet the educational needs of its students by levying the following excess taxes, in place of an expiring levy, on all taxable property within the District, for support of the District’s General Fund educational maintenance and operation expenses: Collection Year: 2013-2016; Approximate Levy Rate/$1,000 Assessed Value: $2.33, $2.31, $2.29, $2.26; Levy Amount: $1,300,000. All as provided in Resolution No. 2011-4. Should this proposition be approved?

Proposition 2: The Board of Directors of Dayton School District No. 2 adopted Resolution No. 2011-5, concerning a proposition to finance technology and school improvements. This proposition would authorize the District to acquire technology equipment and infrastructure to improve student learning, upgrade (acquire new or recondition) existing High School gymnasium bleachers, and levy the following excess taxes, on all taxable property within the District: Collection Year: 2013-2016; Approximate Levy Rate/$1,000 Assessed Value: $.46, $.14; Levy Amount: $255,000, $75,000. All as provided in Resolution No. 2011-5. Should this proposition be approved?[3]
