My name is Dayton Vasquez, and I’m proud to have been born and raised right here in Las Vegas. I grew up in the Clark County School District and graduated from Desert Oasis High School before earning my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and pre-law from Nevada State University. Today, I work in Higher Education, helping students build meaningful futures and use their education to create positive changes! My greatest passion has always been serving the people around me. This community shaped who I am, and from a young age I’ve dedicated my time to being present, involved, and a voice for those who feel unheard. Now, I’m ready to give back on a larger scale, because I truly believe that together, we can build the change we want to see!
  • - Building an economy that puts working-class people first: This means expanding job opportunities for those struggling to find work, strengthening job security for those who are employed, and ensuring that working people are paid fairly, treated with dignity, and have a real voice in decisions that affect their workplace.
  • - Tackling the affordability crisis in Las Vegas: Every year, it’s becoming harder for people to keep up with the rising cost of living. Gas and energy prices continue to climb, car insurance rates are increasing, and essential needs like healthcare, housing, and education are becoming less affordable. These are areas where our state government can and should take action to lower costs and ease the burden on working families.
  • - Supporting our small businesses: Nevada has made progress in helping people start and grow their own businesses, but there’s still a long way to go. Many aspiring business owners are held back by costly state fees and fines, and those who already operate small businesses often face high operating costs, sometimes even for maintenance or requirements placed on the buildings they simply rent space in. We need to cut unnecessary red tape and reduce these financial barriers so that small businesses can open, grow, and thrive without being weighed down by costs that shouldn’t fall on them in the first place.
I am passionate about public policy that is in the interest of the greater good and that prioritizes the people and families of the working class!
I look up to and am inspired by the people and community I grew up around. Being born and raised in a middle-working class family, I have experienced hardships. But more importantly, I’ve watched people I love and care about struggle with challenges that were completely preventable, challenges our government should have helped solve. I am inspired by the strength of everyday people who keep moving forward despite everything they face. They deserve better, and I’m running to fight for them, to bring their stories, their struggles, and their hope into the halls of power.
Being genuine, authentic, and involved in the community around them.
