De'Andre Nelson was a nonpartisan candidate for District 1 representative on the Detroit City Council in Michigan. Nelson was defeated in the primary election on August 8, 2017.

Biography

Nelson grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and attended the Detroit School of Arts. Nelson's professional experience includes working in corporate finance. Other experience includes serving as the youth president of the Greater Seth Temple Church Of God In Christ and as a lifetime member of the NAACP.[1]

The city of Detroit, Michigan, held elections for mayor, city council, city clerk, and the Detroit Board of Police Commisisoners on November 7, 2017. A primary election was held on August 8, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 25, 2017.[2]

Incumbent James Tate and Tamara Smith defeated De'Andre Nelson in the primary election for District 1 on the Detroit City Council.[3]
