DeAnn Walker is the former chair of the Texas Public Utility Commission. Walker was appointed to the commission by Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on September 20, 2017, to fill the remainder of former Chair Donna Nelson's term.[1] Walker resigned from the commission on March 1, 2021. According to her resignation letter, "The events that [led] to the electric grid's failure was [sic] not caused by any one individual or group....I testified last Thursday in the Senate and House and accepted my role in the situation."[2]

Biography

At the time of her appointment to the commission, Walker was serving as a senior policy advisor to Gov. Abbott. Before joining the governor's office, Walker spent 15 years at Centerpoint Energy, serving as the company's director of regulatory affairs and as associate general counsel. Walker is a licensed member of the Texas State Bar.[1]
