DeVan Barbour is a father, husband, Christian, gun owner, and Trump conservative who was raised by two parents who instilled the importance of dedication to family and service to others early in life. From growing up working between the family fertilizer warehouse, hardware, and paint store to building a business of his own, he understands and appreciates hard work, integrity, and service.

A native of Johnston County, DeVan attended South Johnston High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from N.C. State University. From there, he became very active in Conservative causes across the state until his mother was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in 2008. At that point, DeVan returned home from Raleigh to be closer to his family and work at the family store in her absence.

DeVan is a true public servant who is dedicated to serving his community and his country. He wants to ensure that every American, through hard work and perseverance, can achieve the American Dream. DeVan is running for Congress in North Carolina to continue Trump’s America First Agenda and defend our country from the Radical Left.

  • Joe Biden's out of control spending is destroying our economy. Its driving up prices and busting families' budgets. It's got to stop.
  • Joe Biden's buying oil and gas from our enemies and blocking American made oil and gas right here at home. It's driving up gas prices and funding wars against our allies. It's got to stop.
  • I'm DeVan Barbour, a Trump Conservative born and raised in Johnston County, and I'm proud to be the candidate for Congress OF the 13th District, running FOR the 13th District.
Our Constitution states that, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Today, politicians in Washington want to strip you of your right to defend yourself and your family. I will not accept the notion that our society is guilty, because a criminal committed a crime. We do not need more gun control laws, we need to enforce the laws we have and give resources to those whose job is to enforce those laws.

There is a crisis at our border and it must be secured; right now. The border is challenging our national security, illegal drugs and guns are falling into our communities, and humans are being trafficked in the dark of the night. Our current immigration system is broken and we must fix the border now and then look at meaningful reforms. I’m all for working with either party to fix this issue and believe we have a moral obligation to work together to find a solution. But first, we must secure the border and stop ignoring the crisis.

I am firmly pro-life and will fight to protect the rights of our future generations while in Congress. Attempts by Joe Biden and the radical left to loosen restrictions and allow abortions on demand can not be tolerated. Every life is precious and we can and must care for women, while also protecting the little life inside her.
I look up to my mom and strive every day to follow her example. She was a loving, caring, compassionate fighter who always put the needs of others above her own. She was always quick to help a friend, stranger, or animal in need and never expected anything in return. She was a selfless servant leader and never knew it. For 8 months she battled pancreatic cancer and never once thought about giving up. I never once saw her show fear or submission, but always determination and perseverance. She walked through each day staring death right in the face and telling him he'd have to wait. She was determined. She was fearless. I want to take that mindset to Washington. I want to be the Congressman that stands steadfast, determined, and fearless for what's right and never waiver.
To serve the interests and needs of the community they represent above all.
I'd like to come home with my community better than it was when I started.
The Gulf War. I was 7 years old and remember it like it was yesterday. I was sitting on the floor in front of my dad as he watched the television coverage of the US Military bombing strategic locations. I remember being in awe of the strength of our military and the precision of the movements in the air and on the ground. Each night as I watched coverage of the campaign with my dad he was always sure to explain to me what the US was doing and, more importantly, why we were doing it. He stressed the importance of standing up for our allies across the world and related it to standing up for my friends at school.
When I was 12 years old I asked my mom and dad for a fishing boat. They thought that was a great idea and let me know real quick the paint store opened at 7:00am on Saturday and I better not be late. I worked hard and earned enough to buy that boat, and continued to help at the family store through high school and even in college as needed. When mom was diagnosed with stage 4B pancreatic cancer in 2008 I moved home to work at the store again until she passed away in 2009 and the store closed.
Good to Great, Jim Collins. Teaches the principal that the difference between good and great is just a little extra effort.
The life events missed and changing family dynamic that came from losing my mom at a young age.
The large number of members and diverse makeup of the US House is what makes it unique to any other institution.
President Joe Biden
It's desirable but only if both sides compromise and the main objective of the legislation stays intact.
This role would play a high priority, however I would propose a mandatory "5 day colling off period" for any bill including revenue whereby the members and the public would have ample time to read and understand the legislation.

Campaign website

Barbour's campaign website stated the following:

SECOND AMENDMENT

Our Constitution states that, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Today, politicians in Washington want to strip you of your right to defend yourself and your family. I will not accept the notion that our society is guilty, because a criminal committed a crime.

We do not need more gun control laws, we need to enforce the laws we have and give resources to those whose job is to enforce those laws.

IMMIGRATION

There is a crisis at our border and it must be secured; right now. The border is challenging our national security, illegal drugs and guns are falling into our communities, and humans are being trafficked in the dark of the night.

I understand and support the value of legal immigration. By all means, I want to ensure that the American Dream remains possible for those who desire a better life and immigrate to the U.S. legally.

However, our current immigration system is broken and we must fix the border now and then look at meaningful reforms. I’m all for working with either party to fix this issue and believe we have a moral obligation to work together to find a solution. But first, we must secure the border and stop ignoring the crisis.

ECONOMY

My parents taught me hard work and I understand the challenges that come with owning a small business. I don’t just recognize the issues facing working class families, I’ve lived through them. Sadly, the very policies that allowed my family to succeed are now under attack in Washington. From raising taxes to socialized medicine, Democrats seem determined to cripple the U.S. economy and make it harder for us all to achieve the American dream.

Instead, the federal government must enact policies that encourage economic growth and create jobs. In Congress, I will be a vocal supporter of your earnings and your freedom.

HEALTHCARE

The best way to drive healthcare costs down is to get people jobs, allow insurance companies to compete across state lines, and allow small companies to band together to get lower rates.

Obamacare was a disaster and the U.S. healthcare system is still in desperate need of repair. But instead of fixing the problem, many Democrats are openly advocating for socialized medicine, a policy that would lead to fewer choices, higher costs, and decreased quality of care.

To solve our current healthcare crisis, we must put the American people in charge of their own healthcare decisions, not Washington. And allow insurance companies to compete for your business and ultimately the best plan for you and your family.

RIGHT TO LIFE

I am firmly pro-life and will fight to protect the rights of our future generations while in Congress. Attempts by Joe Biden and the radical left to loosen restrictions and allow abortions on demand can not be tolerated. Every life is precious and we can and must care for women, while also protecting the little life inside her.

BIG TECH

Major social media platforms must be held accountable for their biased censorship of conservative voices. Whether it is suppressing posts or banning accounts, Big Tech elites continue to pose a fundamental threat to the values of liberty and free speech that this country was founded upon. Congress must enact common-sense policies to ensure that Liberal companies can’t suppress contrary opinions.

MILITARY

It is of the utmost importance that the United States maintain a strong military and I will fight to make sure our troops have the resources necessary to keep us safe. As the most powerful nation on earth, we have a duty to defend Americans from our enemies and to protect our allies, not police every corner of the globe. China and Russia are not slowing down, and we need to ensure our military stays the strongest fighting force in the world to defend the American people from threats both foreign and domestic should the need arise.[3]
