Dean Capelouto
Dean Kalani Capelouto was a 2012 Republican candidate for District 20 of the Hawaii State Senate.
BIography
At the time of his 2012 campaign, Kalani Capelouto was the owner of Oahu Express, a shipping company, and had served as vice president, treasurer, CIO, CFO, operations manager, security manager, human resources, safety manager, and federal and state compliance officer. From 2005-2006 he worked for Booz Allen Hamilton as Senior Consultant, Missile Defense, Infrastructure Expert, Naval Ops Expert, and from 1984-2005 he served in the US Navy retiring at the rate/rank of Operations Specialist Senior Chief, with experience as Naval Instructor, Air Intercept Controller, Shipping Officer, Piloting Officer, Cruise Missile, Missile Defense, Senior Underway Combat System Observer, Naval Inspector, and Officer of the Deck.[1]
Dean Kalani Capelouto has a Master's Degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix, Bachelor's of Science Degree in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University, and an Associates Degree in Technical Studies from the University of Phoenix. He attended Barbe High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Radford High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Bonds Wilson High School in Charleston, South Carolina.[1]
Dean Kalani Capelouto is affiliated with the following organizations: Hawaii Regional Robotics Sponsor, CAN JAM Sponsor, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Wikipedia, Cato Institute, Leeward YMCA Program, Volunteer for West Loch Elderly Vlg, prior Vice President of Makakilo Mala Homeowners Assn., National Defense Transportation Assn, Honolulu Council Navy League, Indirect Air Carrier Program (TSA), and the Hawaii Transportation Assn.[1]

- 1. Stop the RAIL to no-where project.
- 2. Hawaii energy - is off track and being abused by special interest.
- 3. Work to get fuel and petroleum prices under control.
- 4. Put more back into the pocket books of consumers and small businesses who are being crushed by the current establishment.
- 5. Reduce dependence on outside entities for Food and Water.
- 6. Sustain and maintain what we have - until we balance the budget.
Dean Kalani Capelouto has stated, "I am of Hawaiian and Italian Ancestry and very mindful of my Hawaiian heritage. What developers and politicians are doing are doing to our "Aina" (Land) is disrespectful to my ancestors and the children of Hawaii."[1]

Dean Kalani Capelouto ran in the 2012 election for Hawaii State Senate District 20. He ran unopposed in the August 11 Republican primary and was defeated by District 19 incumbent Mike Gabbard (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3][4]
