Campaign themes
2014
Moorhouse published a list of his priorities on Nooga.com:
| “ | Identify three issues that are important to you as a candidate.
1. Make sure tax payers dollars are reaching the classroom. The 2013-2014 per pupil expenditure (PPE) in Knox County was $7054, Shelby County was $7800, Davidson $8993, Hamilton proposed 2014-2015 is $9500 (PPE) excluding new construction. 2. The safety of our children and school employees must be a top priority. 3. Strongly promote Vocational/Technical education as an option for kids who are not college bound. If elected how would you address those issues? 1. Given high maintenance costs on older, run down facilities combined with overcrowding of some suburban areas, we must consolidate schools operating at below break even point. This would significantly reduce costs. 2. Introduce policies on school bullying, zero tolerance and appropriate check in/out procedures. 3. Add High School Vocational programs to partner with CSTC would bring "Tennessee Promise" scholarship money to Hamilton County and offer a model for adjacent rural counties.[4] |
