Deanna Wise Henschel

Deanna Wise Henschel is a judge of the 2nd Circuit Family Court in McCracken County, Kentucky. She was appointed by Democratic Governor Steve Beshear on October 6, 2015, and took office on October 9. She succeeded Judge Cynthia E. Sanderson, who retired in September 2015.[1]
Henshel ran for her seat in 2016.[2] The general election took place on November 8, 2016.

Kentucky held nonpartisan elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election took place on May 17, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was January 26, 2016.[3] Incumbent Deanna Wise Henschel ran unopposed in the Kentucky 2nd Circuit Family Court general election.[2]

Selection method

Judges of the Kentucky Family Courts are elected to eight-year terms in nonpartisan elections. They must run for re-election if they wish to serve subsequent terms.[4][5]
The chief judge is selected by his or her peers and serves a two-year term.[4]
Qualifications
In order to serve on this court, a judge must be:[4]
- a U.S. citizen;
- a resident of the represented district for at least two years; and
- licensed to practice law for at least eight years.
