Debbie Boyd is a former Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing District 11 from 2006 to 2010. She served as a Newberry City commissioner from 2002 to 2006.

Boyd did not provide answers to the Florida State Legislative Election 2008 Political Courage Test. The test informs voters how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected.[2]

Boyd's sponsored legislation includes:

  • HB 63 - "Auctioneers: Revises requirements for licensure as auctioneer, auctioneer apprentice, & auction business; requires submission of fingerprints for criminal records check; requires that applicant for license bear cost of fingerprinting & criminal records check"
  • HB 593 - "Water Resources: Revises definition of Florida-friendly landscape; deletes references to "xeriscape;" revises eligibility criteria for certain WMD incentive programs; requires certain local government ordinances & amendments to incorporate specified landscape irrigation & design standards & identify specified invasive exotic plant species"
  • HB 1097 - "Petroleum Restoration Program: Creates Petroleum Restoration Program Advisory Board in DEP"

Boyd lost her bid for re-election to the 11th District seat in 2010. She had no primary opposition. Boyd was defeated by Elizabeth Porter (R) in the November 2 general election. John Ferentinos (Tea Party) also ran.[3]

2008

On November 4, 2008, Boyd won re-election to the Florida House of Representatives from Florida's 11th District, defeating Elizabeth Porter (R). Boyd received 36,892 votes in the election while Porter received 36,713 votes.[4] Boyd raised $263,589 for her campaign; Porter raised $231,371.[5]
