O'Malley (Democratic Party) ran for election to the New Mexico State Senate to represent District 13. She won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Debbie O'Malley's career experience includes founding and serving as executive director of the Sawmill Community Land Trust from 1998 to 2003 and as associate chief of staff for policy for the City of Albuquerque from 2023 to 2024. She served on the Albuquerque City Council from 2003 to 2014 and the Bernalillo County Commission from 2014 to 2022. She began serving as a board member for the Sawmill Community Land Trust and P B & J Family Services Inc. in 2023. O'Malley has also served with the following organizations:[1]
- Project director, Sawmill Advisory Council / Development Corporation, 1995-1998
- Executive board, Sawmill Advisory Council, 1989-1995
- Vice president, North Valley Coalition, 2002-2003
- Board member, Near North Valley Neighborhood Association, 2002-2003
