I am running to keep our schools caring. To keep them successful. And to ensure our schools serve ALL students.

I have lived in Forsyth County most of my life and attended Midway Elementary and Otwell Middle School. My teachers inspired me to love learning and to become a teacher. After completing my bachelor’s degree and master’s degree (M.A., Elementary Education with a focus on Pre-School through 8th grade), I taught in Big Creek Elementary School for 27 years (I also taught for 3 years in Glascock County, at the start of my career). I retired in 2022.

As a result, I know what teachers and students are most concerned about. I continue to listen to what teachers and students are saying while I am out in the community, through my volunteer and alumni networks.

To stay on top of what is happening, I also regularly attend our Board of Education's monthly meetings. I follow closely what our elected state Assembly members are proposing with respect to public school education.

What I see attempts are attempts to push our school system away from serving ALL students. This is happening after decades of working to serve ALL students better, an effort that has produced some of the most caring environments and the most successful outcomes in our state.

My goal is to help our school achieve excellence for everyone.
  • The needs of ALL students should be at the heart of every decision made by the board.
  • Respecting and retaining excellent teachers should be a high priority
  • Financial responsibility without sacrificing the quality of our stellar educational system.
Using emotional intelligence strategies to help students thrive and feel connected to others.

Giving educators the praise and respect they deserve.

Finding ways for parents to observe the amazing things which happen in classrooms every day.
My teachers have been a great influence in my life. My favorite teacher taught me how to care for all her students. She even invited us to her house on Halloween! My sixth-grade teacher asked if I had ever considered being a teacher and that set me on my career path. I have many examples of outstanding teachers (even those as colleagues) who have had a great influence in my life.
My first job was a cook at McDonalds. I worked for one summer.
Every student in Forsyth County Schools will be my main focus. They are the main clients of our school system, and their needs should be considered in all decisions.
