I'm an active community member and have been president of the Marlowe Ruritan for the past 4 years. I've been a leader in the PTA's, involved in 4H, Scouts, FFA, Read Aloud, LSIC and many other volunteer activities. I've lived in Falling Waters for over 30 years. I was a dispatcher for 25 years and rehabbed condemned houses in my spare time. I have a 13-year-old and a 23-year-old stepdaughter who is in the Army. My spouse owns his own Dump Truck business. We have chickens, goats, dogs and cats. We donate most of our eggs. We have a special project that is of interest to the State Agriculture Dept. and could help in issues of waste and odor in swine pens. I want to help improve our community, county and state in any way possible. I'm a great problem solver and I'm willing to work with others regardless of what party they represent. I'll always listen to my constituents concerns and do my best to help solve those problems.
  • Education - We are struggling to get and keep good, qualified teachers here. Since the pandemic, there has been a shortage of teachers everywhere. Our teachers can drive 20 minutes into MD, PA or VA for at least $20K more per year. Our teachers deserve more money. They are underpaid and underappreciated. Our children deserve the best education. We must invest in our public schools to ensure we have a well-educated work force for our state and county's future and to entice businesses to locate here.
  • Infrastructure - Our county is growing at a rate faster than our infrastructure has. There are new homes being built all around our county, yet no new schools have been built to accommodate the additional students that have and will be moving here. Not only our schools, but our emergency response units need to be increased as well. We also must have high speed internet readily accessible everywhere. This will not only benefit our students and teachers, but businesses, employees working from home and everyone else as well.
  • Pro Choice - Regardless how each individual personally feels about abortions, the only person who should have a say in making that decision is the woman. As it stands right now, OBGYN's are in a dangerous situation. Many, if not most, will leave our state out of fear of losing their license as a result of situations that could arise.
I'm sure you would want my answer to be someone of profound historical fame, but in my honest opinion I would say my grandmother. She passed away several years ago, but her life, personality, strength, courage and compassion will inspire me forever. She was as close to an angel on earth as one can get. She even saved a coworker from what quite possibly could have been a fatal accident. Unfortunately, in the process, my dad's mom received 3rd degree burns on much of her own body. She was hospitalized for quite a long time, and though she had scars for the rest of her life, no one could deny her beauty both inside and out. She taught me so many things including life skills from days gone by.
Friendly, relatable, honest and connected to their constituents.
I am very good at organizing and getting groups to cooperate and work together. I'm not afraid to take leadership positions. I am very friendly and easy to talk to. I am also a good listener.
I want to help out state improve in so many ways. Our children deserve to have a chance to stay here and thrive. We all deserve to no longer be at the bottom of the list in so many categories. I strive to bring change to our state in the best ways possible.
The hostage crisis when Jimmy Carter was in office. I was about 13 years old.
I worked for my father's Drywall company as an estimator for about a year when I was in high school. After I graduated, I became Assistant Manager at Lerner's, a clothing store in Gaithersburg, MD. My family moved to Frederick, MD where I became a dispatcher and eventually office manager as well. I worked in that field, but 2 different companies for nearly 25 years.
No, that is not what our forefathers had in mind. We need representatives that truly know and relate to those they are representing.
Yes, I agree 100%. The foolishness that has been going on between the 2 main parties and them not working together is hurting our country. Politicians were appointed to do a job, not play games for their own advantages. There is always a middle ground and if we can't work together to find that, we have to replace those not willing to work together.
