Three seats on the McAllen Independent School District school board were up for general election on May 6, 2017. Three newcomers filed for the open Place 3 seat; Deborah Aliseda was victorious over Mark Dougherty and Raul Moreno. In Place 6, incumbent Larry Esparza defeated challenger Homer Martinez. Place 7 saw incumbent Sam Saldivar, Jr. file for re-election and defeat newcomer Lynse Guerra.[1]
