Deborah Bail was a judge for the Fourth Judicial District of Idaho.[1] When Bail was appointed to the court in 1983 by Governor John Evans, she became the first woman to serve as a district judge in Idaho.[2][3][4] She retired from the court on May 31, 2021.[5]

Education

After attending the University of Hawaii for two years, Bail received her bachelor's degree from Lewis and Clark College in 1971. She earned her J.D. in 1974 from Northwestern School of Law in Portland, Ore.[6]

  • 1978-1983: Assistant U.S. attorney, District of Idaho
  • 1977: Joint project with the Office of Aging and Idaho Legal Aid Services, Inc.
  • 1974-1977: Reginald Heber Smith Community Lawyer Fellowship[6]
