Deborah Daniels

Deborah Daniels was an associate circuit court judge for the 13th Circuit Court in Missouri. She was originally elected in 2006, and was re-elected in 2010 and 2014.[1][2] She retired on February 28, 2018.[3]
She is a former candidate for a circuit judge on the 13th Circuit Court in 2016. Daniels was defeated in the primary election on August 2, 2016.
Biography
Daniels attended the University of Missouri for her B.A. and her J.D.[4] Before 2006, Daniels was an assistant prosecuting attorney in Boone County and an assistant attorney general for the State of Missouri. She has also lectured at the Missouri Judicial College, and at other CLEs (continuing legal education) throughout the state.[2]

Elections
2016
Missouri held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election took place on August 2, 2016. The filing deadline for those wishing to run in the primary was March 29, 2016. Judges running in a retention election on November 8 had to file by August 23.[5] Incumbent Jeff Harris defeated Deborah Daniels in the Missouri 13th Circuit (Division 2) Democratic primary.[6]

Selection method

The 141 judges of the Missouri Circuit Courts are elected to six-year terms in partisan elections, except in the cities of Springfield, St. Louis, and Kansas City. At the end of their terms, judges must face re-election.[10]
The chief judge of each court is elected by the circuit and associate judges from among the sitting circuit judges.[10]
Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must be:
- a U.S. citizen for at least 10 years;
- a qualified state voter for at least three years;
- a resident of the circuit for at least one year;
- licensed to practice law in the state; and
- at least 30 years old.[10]
