Collapse all
|- Muskego, Franklin, Greendale and Greenfield are all proud of their public schools. We need to restore adequate funding by raising revenue caps and applying 15% of our budget surplus to public education. Expanding the private school voucher program compromises public school funding, increases property taxes, and does not provide for public oversight or accountability. To attract talented educators back to our schools, we need to provide resources to meet the needs of all students. We also need to restore collective bargain rights so that teachers can negotiate appropriate compensation and benefits. Finally, parents should not be afraid to send their children to school. The state legislature needs to pass common sense gun safety laws
- Healthcare. Bringing our federal tax dollars back to Wisconsin for Medicaid expansion will provide coverage for over 120,000 low-income individuals and lower state taxes by approximately $200 million annually. Expanding state health insurance would also help to address current caregiver shortages. Family members are more likely to care for dependent family members at home if they are not reliant on employer-based health insurance. Also, women need access to reproductive health services. I oppose the ban on abortion services. I support increased access to birth control, relationship skills building for youth and family supports such as subsidized childcare as a means to prevent unwanted pregnancies and abortions.
- Democracy is at risk in Wisconsin. We have a highly gerrymandered election maps in the count. Republican state legislators have repeatedly attempted to overturn Wisconsin’s fair and accurate 2020 election results. Wisconsin Republican legislators have proposed 33 bills since the 2020 election that would undermine the authority of the Wisconsin Election Commission and/or restrict ballot access. Without the accountability of fair maps, Republicans have voted against the majority opinion of Wisconsinites on critical issues such as public school funding, reproductive rights, gun safety, collective bargaining and environmental protections. Office holders who do not support democracy should be held accountable.
