Deborah Dowling is a judge for the 2nd Department of the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division. She assumed office on June 10, 2021. Her current term ends on December 31, 2026.
Dowling was appointed to the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division by Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) on May 25, 2021, effective June 10, 2021.[1][2]
Education
Dowling received her B.A. degree from Wheaton College and her J.D. from the State University of New York of Buffalo School of Law.[1]
Career
Dowling began her legal career in 1979 as a staff attorney and director of the Housing Unit for Legal Services. In 1987, she joined the Housing Court. She then served on the New York City Civil Court from 1993 to 1995 and on the Criminal Court from 1995 to 1996. In 1997, she was elected to the supreme court.[1][3]
