Race background

According to a MLive article, Wirth stated that she decided to challenge incumbent Dave Camp because "he is more into the power game in D.C. than he is doing the best he can for the people in the district."[7] Additionally, she asserted that "The whole Republican Party has gotten too extreme and Dave Camp falls in line with them."[8]
