Irvine was a 2014 Republican candidate for District 61 of the Colorado House of Representatives. She ran unsuccessfully for the same seat in 2012.

Elections for the Colorado House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 24, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 31, 2014. Incumbent Millie Hamner was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Debra Irvine was unopposed in the Republican primary. Hamner defeated Irvine and Mac Trench (L) in the general election.[2][3][4][5]
