Debra K. Behnke
Debra K. Behnke was the Group 6 judge on the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. She was appointed to his court by Gov. Lawton Chiles on May 11, 1992, and resigned from the court in 2015. Behnke had won re-election unopposed in the 2010 primary. Her term was originally set to expire on January 2, 2017.
Prior to serving on the circuit court, Behnke was a county court judge for Hillsborough County from 1989 to 1992.
Biography
Behnke was born in Somerville, N.J., on January 16, 1953. She received a B.A. degree in German and history from Indiana University in 1972 and a J.D. from the Loyola School of Law in 1978.[1]
Behnke began her legal career in 1979 as an assistant public defender in Hillsborough County. She then worked as an assistant state attorney from 1981 through 1983. She was in private practice from 1984 through 1988. In 1988, she was elected to the Hillsborough County Court, where she served until she was elevated to the circuit court in 1992.[1]
