Two of the seven seats on the Deer Park Independent School District board of trustees were up for general election on May 7, 2016. Position 4 incumbent Lynn Kirkpatrick and Position 5 incumbent Ken Donnell ran unopposed for the two seats up for election. Due to a lack of opposition, the election was canceled and Kirkpatrick and Donnell were automatically re-elected.[1]

The Deer Park Board of Trustees consists of seven members elected by district to three-year terms. Each member resides in the single-member district they represent on the board. There was no primary election, and a general election took place on May 7, 2016, for Districts 5, 6 and, 7.[1]
School board candidates submitted candidacy paperwork with the school district secretary by February 19, 2016. Each candidate must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter and a resident of the district for at least six months.[2]

2014Position 6 incumbent Mike Mills and Position 7 incumbent Donna Thomas were the only candidates to file by the February 28, 2014 deadline. The district canceled elections in early April as allowed by state election law.[5][6]
