Elections for the Delaware House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on September 9, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was July 8, 2014.
Following the general election, there was no change to the majority control of the Delaware House of Representatives. The Democratic Party controlled the chamber, but after the general election they did so with two fewer seats after sliding from 27 to 25. The Republican Party picked up the two seats, increasing their share from 14 to 16.

Qualifications
Article II, Section 3 of the Delaware Constitution states: No person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained the age of twenty-four years, and have been a citizen and inhabitant of the State three years next preceding the day of his election, and the last year of that term an inhabitant of the Representative District in which he shall be chosen, unless he shall have been absent on the public business of the United States or of this State.
Competitiveness
Candidates unopposed by a major party
In 19 of the 41 districts up for election in 2014, there was only one major party candidate running for election. A total of 13 Democrats and six Republicans were guaranteed election barring unforeseen circumstances.
Two major party candidates faced off in the general election in 22 of the 41 districts up for election. Three of those seats held competitive elections in 2012 with a margin of victory ranging from 0 to 5 percent. Four other elections were mildly competitive, with a margin of victory of 5 to 10 percent. Those competitive districts were:
Competitive
- District 10: Sean Matthews (D) defeated Judith Travis (R) in the general election. Incumbent Dennis E. Williams (D) won by a margin of victory of 4 percent in 2012.
- District 11: Incumbent Jeffrey N. Spiegelman (R) defeated Lynne W. Newlin (D) in the general election. Spiegelman won by a margin of victory of 2 percent in 2012.
- District 41: Incumbent John C. Atkins (D) was defeated by Richard G. Collins (R) in the general election. Atkins won by a margin of victory of 0.8 percent in 2012.
Mildly Competitive
- District 20: Incumbent Stephen T. Smyk (R) defeated M. Marie Mayor (D) and Donald R. Ayotte (I) in the general election. Smyk won by a margin of victory of 6 percent in 2012.
- District 29: Incumbent William Charles Paradee III (D) defeated Peter M. Kramer (R) in the general election. Paradee won by a margin of victory of 9 percent in 2012.
- District 33: Incumbent Harold J. Peterman (R) defeated John Kevin Robbins (D) in the general election. Incumbent Harold J. Peterman (R) won by a margin of victory of 7 percent in 2012.
- District 37: Incumbent Ruth Briggs King (R) defeated Paulette Ann Rappa (D) in the general election. King won by a margin of victory of 10 percent in 2012.
Primary challenges
Seven incumbents faced primary competition on September 9. Two incumbents did not seek re-election in 2014 and another 32 incumbents advanced past the primary without opposition. The state representatives that faced primary competition were:
- District 10: Incumbent Dennis E. Williams (D) was defeated by Sean Matthews in the Democratic primary.
- District 15: Incumbent Valerie Longhurst (D) defeated James Burton in the Democratic primary.
- District 18: Incumbent Michael Barbieri (D) defeated Christopher A. Piecuch in the Democratic primary.
- District 19: Incumbent Kimberly Williams (D) defeated William H. Dunn in the Democratic primary.
- District 22: Incumbent Joseph E. Miro (R) defeated Michael Smith in the Republican primary.
- District 33: Incumbent Harold J. Peterman (R) defeated Charles S. Postles, Jr. in the Republican primary.
- District 34: Incumbent Donald A. Blakey (R) was defeated by Lyndon Dean Yearick in the Republican primary.
