October 14, 2011
DOVER, Delaware: Delaware's lone U.S. House seat is up for a vote in 2012. This week, New Castle County Council President Thomas Kovach, a Republican, officially announced the challenge for the seat. Currently the seat is held by Republican U.S. Rep. John Carney.[1]
This marks the first regular statewide office election for Kovach, according to reports.[1]
Prior to serving on the New Castle County Council Kovach won a seat in the Delaware House of Representatives. He won the seat in a December 2008 special election. However, he lost re-election in 2010 to Democrat Debra Heffernan.[1]
According to reports, Kovach is currently the only challenger.
