Delaware legislators do not pass initiative legislation
July 21, 2010
By Kyle Maichle
WILMINGTON, Delaware: Legislators in Delaware ended session on June 30, 2010, without passing any initiative legislation[1][2].
Two bills were considered during the session. Senate Bill 12 would have implemented the initiative process for the state's citizens[2]. Senate Bill 13 would eliminate the current two-legislative session requirement for approving amendments to the Delaware Constitution. The new requirement would place approved constitutional amendments on the ballot for the next scheduled general election[2].
Both of the bills died in committee without seeing a floor vote in the Legislature[3][4].
