Dutton was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 19 of the Georgia State Senate.

Dutton is a former Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 157 from 2011 to 2015.

He was a 2014 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 12th Congressional District of Georgia.[1][2] Dutton was defeated by Rick Allen in the Republican primary on May 20, 2014.[3]
