The Oregon Democratic Party is the Oregon political party affiliate of the national Democratic Party. The group is headquartered in Portland, Oregon.

The party is composed of a governing body called the State Central Committee and a chair, both of which are elected for terms lasting from the County Biennial Organizational Meeting until successors are qualified and elected.[1]

Rosa Colquitt

Rosa Colquitt was elected to a term as chair in 2023. She previously served as Vice Chair, Chair of the DPO Black Caucus and Chair of the Racial Equity, Accountability, and Leadership Committee.

Dr. Colquitt has a Ph.D. in research administration from North Carolina State University.[2]

Primary elections

The "Bylaws of the Democratic Party of Oregon" states that candidates for federal and state office, in the event of a vacancy, can be selected by mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions if there is no primary.

Oregon allows parties throughout the state to chose whether or not their primaries will be open or closed. Both the Oregon Democratic Party and the Oregon Republican Party utilize closed primaries where only registered members can participate in candidate selection.[4]
