Denise Brown (she/her/hers) is a trial attorney with more than 20 years of experience representing plaintiffs and defendants. From automobile collisions, medical malpractice, consumer litigation, and business disputes, Denise has tried cases to jury verdict as both first and second chair. Since 2016, Denise opened her own firm to represent injured people in Harris County. That’s why I'm running for the 127th - to help the people of Harris County get access to justice.

Denise Brown was born and raised in Pasadena, Texas. Denise’s father retired as an operator from the chemical plants off of Hwy 225 while her mother is a retired nurse and retired certified legal nurse consultant. After graduating Deer Park High School, Denise attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, majoring in Political Science and Environmental Studies. Denise then attended South Texas College of Law where she was Chair of the Board of Advocates, a competitor in mock trial and moot court tournaments, and a law clerk at prestigious plaintiff firms in Houston. Denise’s love of trial has translated into years of judging mock trial competitions at South Texas College of Law, University of Houston, and various national competitions. Denise is a first generation attorney, fulfilling her childhood dream of arguing in court like she saw on TV and in movies.

Denise was married to Steve Brown, a theatre teacher, before his passing. She currently lives in Houston with their daughter and son.
  • Every juror, lawyer, witness, plaintiff, and defendant who participates in the legal process deserves to be treated with respect, dignity, and integrity. A person's background should not matter when it comes to the court system. I will ensure that everyone who steps foot in the 127th is treated with.
  • Access to justice is one of the primary functions of a court. As judge of the 127th, I will work to clear the backlog. The court has only held 22 jury trials in the last five years. Denying justice to hundreds of people is not acceptable.
  • Diversity and inclusion are more than just a talking points. It must be practiced from the bench when dealing with the diverse backgrounds in Harris County
I am passionate about all democratic values, including access to justice, civil liberties, equity, and equality.
I, like so many others, have had multiple struggles in my life. The most recent is the passing of my husband in August 2022 from pancreatic cancer. Becoming a widow and single mother of two young children has had a lasting impact on me. But through the support of family and friends, I discovered a resilience not only in me but also in my children. His loss created a deeper level of empathy and compassion for others that I carry forward and extend to those around me.
I am focused on provide access to justice and a welcoming court to the citizens of Harris County in the 127th. I do not have plans to seek a higher court.
