Denise D. Reilly
Denise D. Reilly was a judge for District 8 of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. She assumed office in 2014. She left office on September 1, 2023.
Reilly ran for re-election for the District 8 judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Governor Mark Dayton (D) appointed her to this position in 2014 to fill one of the at-large seats vacated on April 1 by retiring judges Terri Stoneburner and Thomas Kalitowski.[1][2]
Reilly retired from the Minnesota Court of Appeals on September 1, 2023. [3]
Education
Reilly received her B.A. from the College of Wooster in 1975 and her J.D. with honors from William Mitchell College of Law in 1983.[1][2]
Career
Reilly previously served as a Fourth District judge for Hennepin County. Reilly began her legal career in 1983 as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Robert Renner. In 1985, she joined the law firm of Lindquist & Vennum, where she worked until 1989. She then became an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Minnesota, serving as chief of the Narcotics and Firearms Section until her judicial appointment in 1997. She also worked as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota Law School.[1][2]
