Denise O'Malley

Denise M. O'Malley is a former Appellate Judge of the First District Court, 6th Division, Illinois. She retired from this position in 2009.[1]

Education

Denise M. O’Malley was born in Chicago on March 15, 1940. She received her B.A. degree from Mundelein College in 1961, her M.A. degree from the University of Chicago in 1971, and her J.D. degree from the John Marshall School of Law in 1981.

Career

Judge O'Malley served as a Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney from 1981 to 1986 and was in private practice from 1986 to 1989 doing plaintiff’s and insurance defense work. In addition, she has represented the CTA and the City of Chicago. Judge O’Malley was elected to the circuit court in 1992, and briefly served in the Domestic Relations Division. After serving ten years as a trial judge in the Law Division of the Circuit Court, Judge O’Malley was elected to the Appellate Court in 2002. Judge O’Malley is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois.[2]
