Denise Watson is a judge on the Dutchess County Family Court in New York. She was elected in 2011 and took office the following January. Her current term expires in 2021. Watson also serves in the Dutchess County Youth Treatment Court.[1]

Education

Watson received her B.A. degree from Boston College in 1979 and her J.D. degree from the St. Louis University School of Law in 1982.[1]

Career

Watson began her career in 1983 as a judicial clerk for the 21st Judicial Circuit in Missouri. The following year, she became a senior staff attorney for the Probate Division of that court. She then worked in private practice from 1989 to 1999. From 1999 until her judicial election in 2011, she was the principal court attorney for Hon. Peter M. Forman of Dutchess County.[1][2]

Watson won the Independence party primary on September 3, 2011. She then won in the general election on November 8, 2011 against Marco Caviglia.[3][1][4][5]
