Dennis A. Areias represents Trustee Area 1 on the Los Banos Unified School District Board of Education in California. He has served on the board since 1997. In 2013, a recall effort was launched against Areias, but supporters failed to garner enough signatures to get it on the ballot.[1]

Four seats on the Los Banos Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. In Trustee Area 1, incumbent Dennis A. Areias faced challenger Fredrick D. Todd and won re-election. Trustee Area 3 incumbent Andree A. Soares also faced one challenger, Marlene Smith. Smith defeated Soares and won the seat. In Trustee Area 5, newcomer Anthony J. Parreira ran unopposed and won election to the seat by default. The Trustee Area 7 race featured one incumbent, John Anthony Mueller, and one challenger, Ruben Santos. Mueller defeated Santos and won his bid for re-election.
