Dennis J. Hubel was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of Oregon. He was first appointed to this position on part-time status on January 24, 1995. He was then appointed to full-time status on January 1, 1998.[1] Hubel died on September 16, 2019.[2]

Early life and education

Dennis Hubel was a native of New York City, but he grew up in Portland, Oregon. He received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University in 1969. He then did post-graduate work in nuclear engineering at the University of Washington from 1972 to 1973. In 1976, he earned his J.D. degree from the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College. He has also served active duty in the Navy.[1]

Career

Judge Hubel began his career in 1976 as a partner of the law firm now called Mitchell, Lang & Smith. He worked as a trial attorney and specialized in insurance and professional liability litigation. In 1987, he became a partner of Karnopp, Petersen, Noteboom, Hubel, et. al. He worked with this firm until he was appointed magistrate judge.[1]
