Dennis Nielsen (Republican Party) ran for election to the North Carolina State Senate to represent District 11. Nielsen lost in the Republican primary on March 3, 2020.

Nielsen was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 26 of the North Carolina House of Representatives. He ran unsuccessfully for the same seat in 2014.

Donna McDowell White defeated Rich Nixon in the North Carolina House of Representatives District 26 general election.[4][5]

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 28, 2014. Incumbent N.
