Derek K. Smith appointed to the 21st circuit court in Tennessee

Tennessee: Derek K. Smith has been appointed by Governor Bill Haslam to serve on the Twenty-first circuit court.[1] Smith will replace former judge Jeff Bivins, who is now serving on the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals for the Middle Section of Tennessee after begin appointed by Governor Haslam in August 2011.

Prior to joining the judiciary, Smith worked in the Office of the District Attorney General. He began as an assistant district attorney in 1992, and was promoted to deputy district attorney in 1999[1]
