Derek P. Champagne is a judge of the Franklin County Family Court in New York. He was elected on November 4, 2014, for a term that expires on December 31, 2024.[1]

Champagne ran for election to the Franklin County Family Court.
Primary: He was successful in the Democratic primary on September 9, 2014, receiving 50.0 percent of the vote. He competed against Thomas G. Soucia and Jonathan J. Miller. He also cross-filed to run on the Independence party line, and won that primary with 64.9 percent of the vote. 
General: He was unopposed in the general election on November 4, 2014. [1][2] 

Education

Champagne received his undergraduate degree from St. Bonaventure University and his J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law.[3]

Career

Champagne was the district attorney of Franklin County from January 2002 until 2014. He served as an assistant district attorney in the county from 1998 to 2000, and a chief assistant district attorney from 2000 to 2001. He was previously an attorney with the law firm Hughes & Stewart, PC and a village attorney in Malone, New York.[3]
