Derek Pullan is a judge of the Utah Fourth Judicial District for the Heber City District Court.[1] Pull was appointed to this position in September 2003 by Gov. Michael O. Leavitt and he was retained in 2012. His current term expires in 2018.[2]

Pullan received his J.D. from Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1993.[2]

Pullan stood for retention to the Utah Fourth Judicial District court in 2012. On November 6, 2012, Pullan was retained with 83.9 percent of the vote and receiving a total of 139,104 votes.[3][4]

Judicial Performance Evaluation recommendation

The Utah Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission compiled information from attorneys, court staff and jurors about the performance of all judges up for retention in 2012. Judges were evaluated based on five criteria.

A judge must score at least 3 out of 5 in each of these categories to meet the minimum performance standard. 96 attorneys responded to the following questions.

  • Legal Ability: 4.35
  • Communication: 4.46
  • Integrity: 4.60
  • Judicial temperament: 4.51
  • Administrative: 4.50
