Desmond Green is a justice of the Kings County Supreme Court (2nd Judicial District) in New York, New York. He was elected to this position on November 5, 2013.[1]

Education

Green received his J.D. degree from the Lewis and Clark School of Law.[2][3]

Career

Prior to his election to the supreme court, Green served in the Red Hook Community Justice Center. He became a judge of the New York City Civil Court in 2004, but was appointed to serve in the Criminal Court.[2] He was also appointed an acting justice of the Kings County Supreme Court (Brooklyn), effective June 7, 2010.[3]

2013 election

Green ran for election to the 2nd Judicial District Supreme Court. General: He was elected in the general election on November 5, 2013, with 16.9 percent of the vote. Ross Brady, Kevin A. Finnegan, Bernard Graham, Dawn M. Jimenez-Salta, Mendy Mirocznik, Ilan Schoenberger, Kenneth Sherman and Betty J. Williams were also on the ballot, competing for five open seats.[1][4][5]

IJEQC rating

Green was rated "Highly Qualified" by New York's Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commissions (IJEQC).[6]
