I’m Destiny Wells—an attorney, U.S. Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel, and combat veteran with more than two decades of service at the local, state, federal, and multinational levels. I previously served as a Deputy Attorney General for Indiana and have spent my career working at the intersection of law, national security, and public service. I’m also a mother and Indianapolis resident who understands firsthand the pressures families face as costs rise and opportunities feel increasingly out of reach. I’m running for Congress to bring experienced, independent leadership focused on accountability, affordability, and economic opportunity for Indiana’s 7th District.
  • Lower Costs. I’m running because too many families in Indianapolis feel as if the system isn’t built for them anymore. Costs keep going up—healthcare, housing, utilities—and people feel like decisions are being made without them. I believe representation means showing up, being honest, and keeping people informed, especially when big decisions are happening that affect their lives. Whether it’s utility acquisitions, water access, or large-scale development, people deserve honesty and a voice—and federal resources should reach neighborhoods that have been overlooked.
  • Clean Government. Public service has been my life’s work. I’m an attorney and a U.S. Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel with more than two decades of service. I’ve worked in government—I recognize what works and what does not. Leadership should be independent and accountable. I don’t take corporate PAC money from companies trying to influence policy, and I’m focused on putting constituents first and delivering results people can feel in their daily lives.
  • Freedom and Civil Rights. I believe freedom and civil rights are fundamental—and they require constant protection. That means defending voting rights, protecting reproductive freedom, and ensuring people are treated fairly regardless of who they are or where they live. I also believe the government should respect individual liberty while ensuring equal access to opportunity. At a time when many rights people assumed were settled are being challenged, I’m running to protect those freedoms and make sure everyone in our community has a voice and a fair shot.
I’m especially focused on how big decisions affect everyday life in our communities. Things like energy use, water access, and large developments—including data centers—can have lasting effects, and people deserve to be part of those conversations before decisions are made. I care about responsible growth that protects resources and keeps costs manageable for families.

I’m also passionate about creating real pathways to good-paying jobs, strengthening access to healthcare, and making sure federal investments actually reach neighborhoods and make a difference people can see and feel.

Destiny grew up in a blue collar family in Morgan County, where she learned the importance of the values that small-town Hoosiers hold dear: family, freedom, and progress. She is the daughter of eight generations of farmers, whose love for working the land has stayed true even through hardship.

She left home to attend Indiana University as a first generation college student. And in the throes of 9/11, she enlisted in the Army National Guard at the age of 19 and later joined Army ROTC. In the military she found what many of us are looking for: a steady paycheck, health care, a path toward retirement, and the ability to serve my country and my community.
Over 19 years later, she is a U.S. Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel, and she continues to proudly serve. Outside of the military, she also became a lawyer and an entrepreneur.

In the service she met her husband, Oliver, a military intelligence Lieutenant Colonel in the Indiana Army National Guard. They are raising two sons, Owen (11) and Harrison (3). They’re never too far from both their families’ farms—Oliver’s in Rochester and Destiny’s in Martinsville.
  • Ensure Free and Fair Elections for all Hoosiers
  • Provide Hoosier entrepreneurs and small businesses the freedom to thrive
  • Increase voter participation so election results reflect the values of Hoosier voters
Indiana is 46th in the country in registered voter turnout. In 2020 when the stakes were existentially high, 1.6 million registered Indiana voters stayed home. Hoosiers must exercise agency in the democratic process by casting a vote, or risk losing democracy all together. This is a matter of national security.
I'm running for Indiana Secretary of State to safeguard democracy and the freedom to vote right here at home. I have worked at all levels of government—local, state, federal, and the multi-national level with NATO. As an attorney, I've been Associate Corporation Counsel for the City of Indianapolis and Marion County, and Deputy Attorney General for the State of Indiana. And as a military intelligence officer, I have seen first hand the state of democracy across the world.
