A Detroit City Gifts To Officials Amendment proposal was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Wayne County, which is in Michigan, where it was approved.
This proposal amended the Detroit City Charter to remove the prohibition against all gifts to City officials and City employees and to allow the City Council to establish by ordinance what gifts are allowed and what gifts are prohibited.[1]

“ | Shall Section 2-106.4, which currently prohibits City officials and City employees from accepting gifts, gratuities, honoraria, and other things of value in connection with their work for the City, be amended to provide that the City Council shall determine by ordinance which gifts, gratuities, honoraria, and other things of value City officials and City employees are prohibited from receiving in connection with their work for the City?[1][2] | ” |
