Developments in Jerry Sandusky case
April 15, 2012
Pennsylvania: Senior Judge John Cleland has ruled that the sexual abuse charges against former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky will stand and the case will proceed to trial in June. Attorneys for Sandusky argued that some accusations had passed the statute of limitations and that sufficient evidence was not present for all fifty counts against the coach. Judge Cleland disagreed with those assertions.[1]
Dealing with another aspect in the case, Judge Cleland also issued a gag order last week. Attempting to reduce bias in a potential jury pool and public opinion, the judge's order prevents anyone involved in the case from speaking to the media.[2]
